Organized in 1983 by creative professional engineers as an expansion of a
successful firm (WILLIAMS & SCHNEIDER) established in 1970, WILLIAMS,
SCHNEIDER, CALVETTI, INC. (WSC, INC.) provides
innovative quality state of the practice consulting structural engineering
services with an operational philosophy of Dedicated Professionalism
with adherence to Professional Standards of Practice.
WSC, INC. strives to provide our clients with a full range of
structural engineering service for commercial, educational, industrial,
hotels/motels, medical, public facilities, offices, religious, recreational and
multi-family residential structures. Our area of competence and successful
endeavors include new construction, rehabilitation and restoration projects.
Since its establishment WSC, INC. has been retained for projects
ranging in scale from residences to the design of twin ten story deluxe hotel
buildings in Mazatlan, Mexico, twelve story industrial buildings in Tampico,
Mexico, a thirty five story hotel/condominium in Galveston, Texas, and the
newest expansion of the Express News of San Antonio.
The principals of WSC, INC. are diligent and conscientious individuals
whose level of professionalism, technical knowledge and vast experience in the
analysis and design of simple and complex structures has established a close
working relationship with clients and other professionals to help ensure
responsiveness to design requirements and coordination of effort. Each WSC,
INC. project is personally supervised by a principal, with periodic review
by other principals, as a result, unlike many other structural engineering
firms, all of the principals are knowledgeable of each project as it develops
and progresses through completion. This provides our clients access to their
combined experience and offers timely assistance during all production phases.
WSC, INC. has had extensive experience in the design of lightly loaded
structures such as warehouses and freezer/cooler facilities. Through this
experience a combination of steel frame and concrete tilt-wall design was
developed for an economical warehouse enclosure; and an economical steel frame
which provides structure for insulation panels of a freezer/cooler facility. Our
experience also has shown that a shallow floating type foundation is an
economical method of support for these structures and provides adequate strength
and stability. Our approach is to properly prepare the site and soil to provide
an economical foundation rather than to ignore the soil and provide an extensive
and expensive foundation.
WSC, INC. principals stress continuing education activities to ensure
that those involved in design continually are aware of the latest developments
and are capable of providing the degree of expertise required. This often
results in a significant degree of cost-effectiveness regardless of the projects
complexity or size.
The firms clientele includes architects, other engineering firms, local,
state and federal agencies, industrial organizations, historical associations
and various other agencies and individuals representing both public and private
sectors of the economy.
WSC, INC. is one of the Founding Firms of the Coalition of American
Structural Engineers - Texas (CASE-TEXAS), one of the Founding Firms of the San
Antonio Chapter of the Structural Engineer Association of Texas (SEAoT) and one
of the Founding Firms of the New Structural Engineers Institute (SEI) of the
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
